BTEC


The BTEC Extended Certifi cate in Media will give you a clear and detailed introduction to the subject in both theoretical and practical ways. It comprises of three units. All students will be introduced to research for media production and then will study two specialist units: these could be taken from video production, print production, advertising production, writing for the media or factual production for the media. This course will be taught using well resourced computers with Adobe software and students will have access to dedicated editing machines.


The BTEC Subsidiary Diploma and Diploma courses will give you insights into the Media industry with special focus on television, fi lm and print. You will be creative and work independently as well as with others. BTEC is 100% coursework. You will have a mixture of classroom-based lessons, group work, practical


sessions, and the chance for independent study. You will be taught relevant media theory to apply to the written assignment or the practical session that you are being assessed in.


The BTEC qualifi cations are recognised by most universities. Successful completion will enable students to continue to higher education on a related course. Alternatively students will fi nd that BTEC qualifi cations are valued by employers and can lead to career opportunities in such fi elds as marketing and events management. Directly related careers are in IT and computing, and the entertainment industries.
