A Level


The media is a hugely infl uential force in modern society. You will learn how media products infl uence individuals’ perceptions of others in society and how it infl uences society itself through the study of newspapers, fi lms and TV. Studying A level Media will give you up-to-date knowledge of aspects of the media industry as well as technical expertise through the use of the internet and software for the creation of original media products like magazines, posters and video material. It will also develop your research skills, your ability to read and digest quite challenging information and it will develop your essay writing abilities. You will develop good organisational skills to meet deadlines, and you will learn to work independently and with others on projects and assignments.


There are many career opportunities in broadcasting and journalism, but Media Studies A and AS level also offer a strong academic challenge and may be used to support many other career choices.

Media is a fun subject where the exams and coursework are evenly split. I enjoy the practical side of creating my own magazines as well as looking behind the scenes at the media world.
