Teams from J6 and Transitus took part in the Scottish Primary Schools’ Cross Country Championships at Kirkcaldy. It proved an excellent day for the School. Laura Stark won individual gold and Iona Miller won individual silver. The Transitus girls’ team won team gold (Laura, Iona, Emma Devine Eilidh Love, Catriona Allan). The Transitus girls’ B team (Imogen Davies, Julia Cunning and Catherine Martin) were 9th. The J6 girls (Kathryn Meenan, Annaliese Nixon, Amy Crawford and Alaina Taylor) were 12th and the J6 boys (Cameron Marr, Max Nugent, Jonathon Bradford and Rowan Gibson and Robbie Murdoch) were 10th. Transitus boys, Jamie Eatock was 15th and Josh Hendry finished 39th. Well done to everyone.

FP and School Matches

Due to the terrible weather leading up to the FP matches, Inverclyde Council deemed Birkmyre Park to be unplayable and the the rugby matches were cancelled. We’re delighted that these have now been rescheduled to the afternoon of Sunday 19th June with a 2pm kick-off. Refreshments will be available afterwards so do come along if you can.

Luckily all was not lost on match day and the girls still managed to play hockey at the Astroturf. After a hard-fought battle the School team, captained by Stephanie Kirkland, was victorious in a 3-1 defeat against Hannah Simpson’s FPs. Stephanie was also presented with the Player of the Match award; FPs Hannah Simpson and Becky Marshall were close contenders.

Langbank Primary School received a Dobbies “Here We Grow” award of £150 towards set up costs for creating a vegetable, herb and plant garden within the school grounds. The children with help of the teachers, parents and village volunteers are working hard to make this venture a big success. A huge thank you to Dobbies Braehead for their donation. If any Langbank residents can offer any advice, help or offer any plants for this project please contact the school 01475 540 294.

Girlguiding Needs You

Volunteers run guiding and we’re always keen to hear from anyone who’d like to help out. If you can offer enthusiasm

and commitment along with your skills and experience, we’ll provide all the training you need.

Our Guiding units provide a fun and varied programme of events for girls over 5. At present the current guiders are stretched to maintain these units. Of major concern at present is 2nd Kilmacolm Brownies held on a Thursday night that will close next month if no one is able to come forward and volunteer to help after the summer break. If we are unable to find helpers for the unit this will also increase waiting lists for the Rainbows hoping to move up to Brownies.

JOIN US! Stepping outside the ordinary couldn’t be easier. To get involved in guiding and discover an extraordinary world of fun, friends and adventure, call Heather 07515 397509.
