Bridge of Weir Gala Day Dog Show

This year’s show will take place on Saturday 11th June; registration for the show begins from 12.30pm with the show starting at 1.30pm. Our judge for this year is Louise Grieve VN. The emphasis of the show is to have some fun with your dogs; so stringent “rules” do not apply. All owners and dogs are welcome to enter the following categories; any variety puppy, best junior handler; the prettiest bitch; the most handsome dog; the dog with the waggiest tail; best six legs; dog who looks most like the owner; egg and spoon race; any variety open.

All money raised will be split between the SSPCA and Pathfi nders Dogs; whom I am delighted to announce have agreed to come along to the show. May I thank our sponsors, the Kerr Veterinary Group, The Pet Shop Johnstone, Tulip Hair design (who have recently opened a salon in Bridge of Weir) and Take the Lead Dog School; whose support allows for all money raised on the day to be given to the chosen charities. Pathfi nder Dogs - Our founder Anne (who is blind herself) discovered there was a long waiting list for a new German Shepherd once her old one had retired. She felt that a waiting time for mobility of up to 3 years was a very long time and decided to do something to help ease the situation. Since that time Anne has registered Pathfi nder Dogs as a charity (SC 035007) as well as a Limited Company by Guarantee. Our company name and charity name is Pathfi nder Guide Dog Programme, however, we trade as Pathfi nder Dogs. Then fundraising started. Anne and her group of loyal volunteers can be seen on street collections throughout Scotland as well as speaking for blindness and dogs as a whole. Anne has a solid background in the dog world having worked with dogs for over 30 years, she herself says ‘you never know it all and there is always something new to learn in the dog world’. Pathfi nder Dogs qualifi ed our fi rst 2 working dogs in 2010. We plan to purchase at least 2 puppies each year to enable us to continue and grow until we complete the construction of our training centre. We will be entering into our own breeding programme once we have our training complex built and the facilities on our grounds to take care of these puppies and their parents. Pathfi nder dogs are delighted to have been invited to the Bridge of Weir Gala Day Dog Show.Come along and meet us at the show.
