The May meeting was the last before the summer break. A good turnout saw an excellent show of pictures from Glasgow photographer Julie Vance. The competition, subject ‘motion’ also had a fi ne entry and two that took the eye were Rosalind Rollands shot of early morning sea gulls rising from an Islay beach and John Davis’ capture of the Red Arrows off the ‘Tail of the Bank’ during the visit of the QE2 for her 40th anniversary visit back to the Clyde. The Club meets again in September and over the summer there will be plenty of opportunity to get some excellent

photographs,

including the Tall Ships. Those with an interest in the history of shipbuilding on the Clyde should take in the Scotts’ Exhibition at the McLean Museum in

Langbank Camera Club - Back to The Future Exhibition

The exhibition will be held in the Langbank Church and Church Halls on 15th, 16th and 17th June from 7.30pm till 9pm. Everyone is welcome to

come along and see Langbank as it was through pictures, objects and memorabilia. Some may remember Summer Fetes at the East Halls or when the local Post Offi ce was on Main Road, Langbank. It promises to be a very interesting exhibition and organiser Mr George Wilkinson is very pleased so far with the response from the Villagers who have helped to put it all together. Tea and coffee will be available on the nights.

24 | JUNE 2011 | your LOCAL news every month - in print and online |

For my 50th birthday, I received the lovely gift of a portrait photo session with my local professional photographer, Don Mclean, from Houston.

My two sisters, Sue and Sheila, travelled from Leeds in Yorkshire to be with me for this special weekend. Don came to my house and set up his equipment in my living room where, along with my 7 month old puppy Archie, we enjoyed a private photo session before going outside to take some fun shots in the sunshine.

Don is full of enthusiasm and, with over 25 year’s experience, he clearly enjoys his work. His approach is to keep things simple so that his clients fi nd
