SATELLITE TV RECEIVERS

Choosing the right model Choosing a satellite receiver to use in your vehicle or boat

can be just as confusing as choosing a satellite dish but, as long as you know what you want to watch, when and where, it all gets a lot easier to understand.

If you have a Sky receiver, you can use that although there may be rules and regulations concerning what you can

and can’t do. The other “official” satellite TV provider in the U.K. is freesat and we have a 12V model in our range. The advantage of a freesat receiver is that it is designed especially to make life easy for U.K. viewers. Once you’ve finished the initial set-up, the receiver will pretty much look after itself and not require any effort on your part. The disadvantage is that the channels that are available are

decided by freesat and this restricts what you can watch. It is possible to get round this and to add channels but, for most people, this is not an ideal arrangement.

Our most popular receivers are Free to Air (F.T.A.) models and these are available with a wide range of features. If you have a TV which is H.D. compatible, you could go for

one of our H.D. receivers. If you want to record programmes, look for models with USB recording (P.V.R.) option. A Common Interface (C.I.) slot will enable you to use most viewing cards - although not Sky cards.

The biggest advantage of a F.T.A. receiver is that it can

receive any channels within range and which are being transmitted without encryption. What’s more, if you can point your dish at different satellites, you can also watch programmes from all over Europe and beyond.

Of course, if you’re using a receiver in a vehicle or boat, you’ll probably want it to operate on 12V and all of the models on these pages do just that. Most operate on 230V as well.

If you want to hide your receiver away, you’ll need one with a remote sensor.

Finally, if you have an “EasyFind” LNB on your dish, you’ll

probably want to get a compatible receiver. We have a choice of three.

See the specification table below to see which receiver has which features.

With its high definition capability, programmes which are transmitted in HD can be seen as they were intended, with unbelievable sharpness and brightness.
