D250S DUAL charger obtains its energy from DC sources such as alternators, solar panels or wind power and optimises this power to meet the charging requirements of the battery bank that it’s connected to. Two DC power sources can be connected at one time (solar panel & alternator for example) and the unit automatically selects the one giving the highest input current, switching between the two as appropriate. Charging starts D250S DUAL uses a fully automatic 5-stage charging regime that supplies up to 20 Amps to 12V batteries of 40- 300Ah. It is IP65 classified (water jet and dust protected and

It’s ideal in situations where a solar panel is being used to charge a battery as it removes the need for a separate regulator. Additional features include an integrated ‘battery guard’ which protects deep cycle batteries from harmful total discharge and ensures that critical equipment on a boat such as radio, emergency lights and navigation systems always function. A temperature sensor helps to protect batteries against damage by reducing the charge current at high temperatures.

Note: A lead-acid battery can only take in so much current and there is no point using a SmartPass unit on an 85Ah battery for example. No harm will be done if you do but we suggest that you only use this product for fast charging if your batteries have a combined Ah rating of 250 or more.
CTEK “SMARTPASS”
These two diagrams show typical installations of the CTEK DC-DC chargers. In example 1, only a DUAL unit is used and it is taking power from the vehicle’s starter battery and a solar panel. In example 2, a DUAL & SmartPass are connected together and are using a solar panel and the starter battery to charge the service battery at up to 80 Amps per hour.
