The “Flat-Sat” satellite system from CAMOS uses a planar antenna to catch a satellite’s beam instead of a conventional dish. Although more expensive, this is a very efficient method and enables the “dish” to be much smaller, taking up less room on a vehicle’s (or boat’s) roof and making it easier both to install and use. The antenna is similar in performance to a 55cm standard dish.
Other advantages of this system are: ! Low height when parked - 12cms. ! Excellent resistance to wind so that the dish can be kept up when models with conventional dishes
have to be parked. ! Compact size means that this model can be
installed when roof space is restricted. ! Light weight (5.3 / 6.5 Kgs) makes this an
ideal system where weight is important. ! Smaller dish size makes it easier to find the satellite. We recommend the use of a good satfinder (page 58) which will enable
the satellite to be found within just a minute or two.

The Camos “Crank-Up Plus” has all the convenience of the “Flat-Sat” but comes with a bigger antenna (equivalent to a 65cm standard dish) and the ability to “skew” it. These two factors significantly increase the unit’s ability to receive signals near the edge of a satellite’s footprint. BBC & ITV, for example can be received well into northern Spain, towards Barcelona.
Operation is the same as for the “Flat-Sat” and skewing is a simple operation as long as access to the dish is available.

This is one of the easiest to use of the manual "through the roof" satellite dishes. What's more, it's easy to install and has excellent performance characteristics even near the fringes of available satellite coverage. Although the dish itself measures just 60cm across, it has the performance of a conventional dish of approx. 80cm.
Its special design gives it many benefits including superb wind resistance both when travelling and in action. When the Globesat is lowered for travel it measures just under 12" (28cm) high.
