Vehicle lighter sockets were never intended to be used for powering accessories in vehicles and DIN plugs and sockets - which give a much better connection - are being used more and more. But, DIN sockets can’t be used with lighter-socket plugs. To address this problem, Pro Car developed their well-known red-top plug which can be used in either kind of socket, providing a safe and secure connection for all kinds of 12V / 24V accessories.
