Our vehicles: we couldn’t do it without them
In order to make sure that the products that we sell actually work, we spend a good amount of time testing things “out in the field”. Our Laika motorhome has now clocked up more than 110,000 miles and, although our narrowboat “Windhover” hasn’t got that many miles under its belt, (at 3 MPH flat out it’s not surprising) it too gets used for testing all sorts of 12V equipment.
The map on the right shows some of the places we’ve been to over the past few years and gives you an idea of why we’re very confident when we say that we know how well our products work. Satellite TV products in particular need to be tried out in the places where they will be used and we’ve been to Spain on many occasions, as this is where many of our customers go. If you want to know which TV channels a particular satellite TV system system will pick up in Reykjavik or Istanbul, we can tell you! Of course, we can also help if you’re only planning to go as far as the Norfolk Broads or the Lake District.
The company SAAB has also been called into service on those occasions when we had to test something quickly. After 208,000 miles it’s still very capable of sprinting round Europe to check reception of a new satellite dome.
But it isn’t only satellite TV systems that we go away to test. In the motorhome we have two inverters, one of which is a pure-sine model, a 12V microwave oven, rear-view cameras, reversing sensors, several GPS navigation systems, battery monitors, battery charging systems and TVs. Some of these have only The only vehicle missing from the RoadPro fleet is a been recently installed but others were fitted when we took delivery of the vehicle: 11 years ago! We like to make sure that, not only do the products that we sell work, but that they will also work reliably for many years.
