Hon. Jim Haines Treasurer of the Rotary Club of Hornchurch & Upminster
Hon. Jim celebrating his new post as Treasurer

uch to my amazement my offer to be the guardian of this venerable
club's funds was accepted en-masse when my name was proposed, and it was only then that I realised what I had let myself in for...... I had hoped that I would have had a number of people standing for election at the same time, but it seems that everybody else was busy that day....
ddressing the future I have, as you will all know, adopted a quiet and
unassuming stance within Rotary even though I find myself surrounded with loud, raucous and sometimes uncouth and improperly
dressed members who continually choose to sit at what has euphemistically become known to all as either the 'Naughty Boys Table' or the "Loud Table". I am not sure if this reputation came about as a result of certain - unnamed - members, or whether it is simply the "ghosts of the past". Whatever, my elevated status will, I am sure, now draw the respect it deserves.......

or myself I shall continue to strive to bring dignity to this table now that I am obliged
to wear the Treasurer's gong, which I am sure said personages will honour at all times.
