Rotary Jazz Night Saturday 12-Jun-10
J
im had put a TV in the corner so that those avid football fans could keep an eye on the
score. Pat Haines was a joy to behold. She sat by the television (unsociable minx) clapping and swaying to the music as she berated the luckless players. She did redeem herself later by making some delicious coffee with the aid of her sidekick Anne Evans.

fter the fish and chip supper the band picked up where they left off and
continued to lure people onto the dance floor with a mixed bag of songs. The evening fin- ished a little after 11 o‟clock, and President Brian spoke for us all when he thanked them for giving us such splendid entertainment and Jim Haines, in particular, for organizing such a fine evening.

s soon as we knew that our event was going to clash with the football it was
always a worry that we might not make a profit and in fact there was always the danger that we might make a loss. I am delighted to say that - although we did not make a very big
rofit -we were able to put some money into the charity fund. Once again it was proba-
bly the raffle (won by old lucky Larkey again) which helped us to ease over the line.
s a football fan I am so glad that the event went ahead, and I would
recommend that when we have the next band night more of the club members should try to attend. I know you will enjoy it. Thank you Jim and all the other organizers for all your hard work in putting on this swinging evening.
