Kids Out 2010 KIDS OUT 2010

ednesday the 9 June, a fine day with no rain (not as fore-
cast) for the annual trip to Southend with a class of 12 children and 4 teachers/helpers from Corbets Tey School Upminster
eter Fulham, a Governor of the School had made all the necessary
arrangements for the School party and Peter, Norman and I travelled down to meet them in the car park of the "Talk" Night Club just off the sea front. Peter had some diffi- culty in identifying the school's mini bus, not surprising when the best part of 500 children are arriving in coaches and mini busses. The first hour or so is spent in the Night Clubwith dancing to the music (?) played by the DJ, the level of noise is quite something but enjoyed by all the kids, not so much by your representatives. Drinks are provided, of the non alcoholic type (well diet coca is probably best at 10.30 in the morning) and large quantities of sandwiches and biscuits (all from Tesco's) are provided for lunch. It was decided by our group that lunch should be taken on the sea front so all the food was packed into a very large (heavy) black plastic bag and carried by your representative.
I
t them transpired that the children had brought their own lunch's and as your
representatives all appeared to be on diets very little was eaten from the large black bag which then had to be carted around all
afternoon by your representative ! Tickets are provided for the group and when presented at the amusement park a plastic wrist band it fitted allowing free access to most of the rides, what fun. Unlike the children there was a noticeable lack of enthusiasm from your representatives to take advantage of the free rides. I was
however persuaded to join a number of the children on their second trip on the ride in the ghost house, have no fear the children reassured me that all the nasty bits were not real and that I would be OK. Just
as well but it still frightened the life out of me!

ll too soon it was time to return to our various modes of transport and head
home to be sure to make the connection with the school buses. When asked if the children would like the leftover food the teacher said no but she was sure that if placed in the staff room at School it would find a good home.
great time was had by all, the children enjoyed the music and amusements and
your representatives found it a very rewarding day, why not join in next year.
