I

s the Immediate Past President I should be seen but not heard, your Editor however has offered me the opportunity to make a few final comments about my year.

irstly I wish John a happy and successful year as President for 2010/11 1 am sure he will have a full and interesting year and that he will receive the full support of all Club

Members.

t was a great pleasure for me to award 'Rotarian of the Year' to Jim Haines at the Hand Over Dinner, my last act as President for 2009/10. The award was well earned; Jim had over the last year taken the lead in a number of new and existing activities/functions essential to the running of the Club, some at very short notice. Congratulations Jim ! I wish him well in his new post of Club Treasurer in the coming year (he may well need it).

orman has agreed to take on the new role as Functions Officer, a role he has performed before, certainly last year on my behalf and something he has great experience of and my thanks to him for all his support last year.

special thought for Ken King, it's time to sing Ken‟s praises (he would never think of doing so himself). His soft polite and reserved way of selling raffle tickets each week is

noticed by all. Joking apart his continued works each week help us to build up a considerable reserve of money, well done Ken.

number of our Members have considerable difficulty in meeting their lunch meeting commitment due to the enormous pressures which work places upon them but never

fail to carry out duties, provide support at evening meetings and events and I consider them an important part of our Club. I apologise to them if they feel their role was undervalued during my year and hope they are able to continue with the important part they play.

new year and a new role for me taking over Community Service from Norman once again. I am sure you do not need to be reminded of our first activity on Sunday

5 September 2010, the annual sponsored walk. A great new course, thanks to Tony taking us through some truly lovely countryside with outstanding views, it will be well worth the effort of getting up on a Sunday morning for,
