Speaker Stuart East on Alternative Heating

Mark Evans A

lternate Heating- now there‟s a

subject to get your teeth into! Like many of you I thought I was pretty clued up on most things. As a reasonably well educated man even if I

could not explain the „theory‟ of a particular subject I can usually grasp the „practical‟ applications. I have got to confess that when I left the lunch on the 8th. July I felt like the class dunce. I failed to grasp most of what Stuart was talking about although I was impressed by the fact that four shafts drilled „millions of miles‟ (you see I don‟t understand metres and all that metric stuff either) into the London sub soil meant that they could keep a very large building cool when they pumped up the water and then heat up the water in the sub

soil when they pumped it back down. What made it worse was that John Fowler, who ought to accept that he should be forgetting things not understanding all this complex stuff, was nodding away as Stuart pumped us full of facts and then he had the cheek to ask intelligent questions! The nerve of the man, as if he isn‟t clever enough already!

nyway I was mightily relieved to discover later that evening that Dick

Palmer, another clever clog (usually) didn‟t have a clue either. Now doesn‟t that make you feel better to know that you are as clever as Dick in some matters?

am sure that some of you understood what was going on so well done to you; just don‟t let me know who you are.

hank you Stuart for visiting our club (you will probably get to read this through

Mark Evans who will get to know about this article when he reads the Bull to his ageing father Bert as he drips his Ovaltine down his front) and explaining to some of us how sometime in the future we can expect some cold call phone calls offering us something to replace our old boilers. (There is a joke there somewhere!)
