A Message from your Editor

Rotary Year is over, and as we seamlessly move into the next one this
gives us all an opportunity for reflection. Personally I have had, like PP Brian has said on more than one occasion, a very happy year. As Editor of your Magazine I feel that with the brilliant Colin always looking for new ap- proaches and ideas for the Bull we are making pleasing progress and getting out a product that we can all be pleased with. That is not to say that we are totally satisfied because there are still ways in which we can improve, and one of these ways is through your input. For example, after some comments about the photographs, we have made some changes and I feel this is for the better. So please let us know if you feel there is something else we can improve on.

nother big improvement has been the addition of Jim Haines to our editorial
team. Jim is reluctant to put the proverbial pen to paper yet but he has been of enormous help to me and Colin. He has become the final „checker‟ in the process. After I dash off a story or a comment about an event it is sometimes difficult and tiring to rephrase a clumsy sentence or paragraph, and this is where Jim comes into his own. With a fresh pair of eyes and a more objective approach he can sort out any problem much quicker. So thank you, Jim.

hile I am I this reflective mood I should like to thank some of our other unsung
heroes who keep the club ticking over.
o you ever read the Web site? Well, thanks to Margareta and Colin we have a
web site to be proud of, and it is worth a visit. Like me, I am sure they would welcome any constructive input if you feel that improvements could be made.

hank you, Daphne, for all your hard work as treasurer over the past few years, a
thankless task in many ways. Then there is Dick, who works tirelessly for the club through the PR group and the Inter club liaison group, trying to put our club and Rotary in the news and on the map.
he work of the President and the senior officers of the club are usually pretty
obvious through their regular reports to club, but there is one to whom we are all in debt. The Honorable Secretary, who puts in a tremendous amount of work behind the scenes and who keeps the wheels of the club well oiled. He is the power behind the throne, reminding, prompting and generally guiding each President through our weekly meetings and the busy schedule of a Presidential Year.

s you read this message you are no doubt thinking about the things you have done
and contributed throughout the year that has helped this club and has not got a mention from yours truly. Firstly I should like to thank all of you unsung heroes, on behalf of the club, and secondly if you feel your efforts are not fully appreciated why not write us a story or an account for the next edition of the Bull. (Ed’s comment - if I have missed you out this time it is nothing personal)
should like to thank all the members of my committee for their help and support
throughout the year and I look forward to the new challenges yet to come. As your new SVP I hope I will be able to fulfill my obligations to your satisfaction and the benefit of the President and the club as a whole.
