Message From Our President

T H T P I

ow time flies. When I was asked “are you looking forward to next

year?” I would reply „yes‟, and thought it was so far ahead. Well - here we are. Another year on, and I am in the Presidents chair.

hank you all for the faith you have placed in me to continue the good

work of the past Presidents, who between them have taken the Rotary Club of Hornchurch and Upminster from strength to strength.

ast President Brian has worked extremely hard to keep the club in

good shape, and I would like to say to Brian I will do all I can to keep up the momentum. I would also like to thank all the club chairs and the officers who work extremely hard throughout the year, and with the reports from the chairs at club assembly we look to be busy throughout 2010/2011.

was pleased that VP George Larkey was able to get the playathon on the go

again at the Queens theatre, I am sure I speak for all my fellow Rotarians who attended when I say we had a great couple of hours entertainment from some very talented youngsters. Well done, George.

I

he Hand over Dinner at Upminster Golf Course at the end of June was

excellent, with good food and good company. Amongst that good company I was pleased to see Dick Wylie, one of our founder members since we began in 1946, and himself president 1954/1955.

am sure you will all join me in congratulating Jim Haines, voted

Rotarian of the year. A well deserved award, and I must also thank Jim for stepping in at the last moment to take over as Treasurer. Another thank you to Daphne, who has looked after the funds and kept our financial records in shape to hand over to Jim.
