Speaker Meeting 18-Mar-10 Brian Jones Forty Years of Brands Hatch Forty Years of Brands Hatch I N B

f ever I need a quick, witty, literate, educated response or

article about a fellow Rotarian I usually go to our learned friend John Fowler. He has a way with words and this was illustrated

wonderfully when he gave the vote of thanks to our speaker of the day Brian James. He was ful- some in his praise of Brian‘s talk and made the comment that Brian even mentioned Brands Hatch a few times.

ow before you jump to the conclusion that I am about to be critical, for the first time

ever, of one of speakers, let me allay your fears. Far from it! I thoroughly enjoyed Brian‘s talk. He has one of those voices ideally suited to commentating, deep and melodious with just the right accent that oozes confidence and it came as no surprise when he mentioned that he had just ventured into the world of ‗Voice Over's‘.

rian is one of those enthusiastic guys that you meet that could talk about anything

Brian Jones

and everything and you could see how, by his own admission, he just developed his career al- most by luck and with no master plan of how his life should develop. What an extraordinary array of jobs and experiences he has had, with Brands Hatch being central to all that has happened to him. I loved hearing about the many characters in his story but most of all I was struck by his enthusiasm.
