Microlight Flying were explained and it soon become obvious that it was a very professional sport, albeit, a sport that anyone can join, in fact it is understood that since this speaker meeting at least one of our members has taken an active interest! That member is our newly appointed Roving Reporter. Beware !!!!!! perhaps we are about to be reading soon about his Aerial

Message from our Editor—YOU WON‘T GET ME UP THERE!

I‘ve often looked up to see a flimsy looking device, not unlike a large kite, travelling, at a seemingly nifty pace at an unnaturally high altitude, and thought ‗you won‘t get me up there, you must be mad‘. However after the talk I was tempted to reconsider! I did not realize just how far micro light flying had progressed. The modern micro light looks very much like a conventional plane and the means of control looked so much safer than the bits of string and wire that guided the early craft. I was impressed with the enthusiasm of our speaker and he was an excellent ambassa- dor for the sport. I did say I was tempted to reconsider but since then I‘ve reconsidered and I doubt you will see your editor crossing the skies over Havering or anywhere else come to that.
