Message from our Editor I
t is said that time flies
when you are having a good time. Well here I am in March
writing up yet another ‗message for The Bull and I cannot believe how quickly this task has come round, ergo I must be having a good time. Actually life has not been too bad and I must say I have been pretty lucky lately. Having decided that, as JVP, I ought to go to this year‘s District Conference which is to be held in Hinckley, Leicester- shire in the first week of October, I sent off my deposit some time last December and promptly put all thoughts of it to the back of my mind. Later in January this year I went along to a District Council Meeting with Geoff and Brian and duly listened to all the goings on and voted at the right time, you know the drill. Anyway, it came to an item on the agenda when next year‘s District Governor, Bob Barclay, was introduced to talk about the district Conference for 2010. Bob reminded us all that those who paid their deposit before a certain date were to be entered into a draw, the winner of which was to have a free weekend at the confer- ence. Well you can imagine my delight and surprise when my name was read out as the winner of the draw. I then had a small win on the Lottery (£5) a win in the Hall Mead school 100 club draw (£20) and another win in the Hall Mead Bonus Ball Lottery Draw (£45). So all in all a pretty good month to help get over the pretty grotty weather that we had at the start of the New Year. How- ever I am probably back in the red again as I was expected to cough up for all the outings, treats, meals, drinks etc. on the back of my winnings. I probably ended up
spending more than I won but it was a nice feeling. However I‘ll soon be back in the money, I‘ve just been informed that I‘ve been lucky in the Mongolian National Lottery ,although I don‘t remember where I bought that ticket, and there‘s some money waiting for me in a Nigerian bank. I‘ve only got to send a cheque to cover the expenses and I‘ll do that as soon as the money comes in from Mongolia.

t‘s been a pretty enjoyable time in Rotary too. The Quiz at Langtons, some pretty darned good speakers at club and I had a particularly good time at the snooker hall in Romford, straight after one of our lunches, where it was pretty obvious that not one of us (Colin, Brian Geoff and myself) had had a misspent youth! Then there was the Murder Mystery night, which was a lot of good fun and well supported.
