LEGAL SECRETARIAL COURSE WITH OFFICE SKILLS TWO YEAR COURSE (ONE BLOCK)


Why study the Legal Secretarial Course with Office Skills? This course is for students who wish to take three or four A-levels plus the Legal Secretaries with Office Skills course. It does not lead to an ILEX qualification – see ILEX Diploma for Legal Secretaries. You will learn how to produce legal documents and learn legal terminology as part of the OCR Certificate/Diploma in Text Processing at levels 2 and 3, plus you will study Business Communications.


What will I study? OCR Text Processing Certificate/Diploma – Levels 2 and 3 which includes: • text production • word processing • legal text processing • legal word processing • legal audio transcription • business presentations (PowerPoint)


Business Communications which includes learning how to: write and respond to business letters, memos, job descriptions, reports, agendas, faxes, e-mails and instructions/guidance notes.


Where does the Legal Secretarial with Office Skills Course take me? On completion of this course, you can pursue a career as a Legal Secretary. Palmer’s College has strong links with legal firms in London and locally and our students are offered placements with these firms each year.


What do I need? You will need the standard entry qualifications for Level 3 courses, i.e. a minimum of 2 Bs and four Cs, but GCSE English at grade C or above is essential.

Why study the Legal Secretarial Course with Shorthand? This course is for students who wish to take three or four A-levels plus the Legal Secretaries Course with Shorthand.


It does not lead to an ILEX qualification – see ILEX Diploma for Legal Secretaries. You will learn how to produce legal documents and learn legal terminology as part of the OCR Certificate/Diploma in Text Processing at levels 2 and 3, plus you will learn shorthand.


What will I study? Teeline shorthand theory and between 40- 100 words a minute.

ITQ CERTIFICATE IN IT USER SKILLS (CLAIT PLUS) ONE YEAR COURSE (ONE BLOCK)


Why study the ITQ Certificate in IT User Skills (CLAIT Plus)? This course will enable you to achieve the OCR Level 2 ITQ Certificate in IT User Skills (CLAIT Plus), which gives you the necessary skills, knowledge and understand of IT for use in the modern workplace.


What do I study? Level 2 ITQ Certificate in IT User Skills (CLAIT Plus) which includes 3 units plus an evidence review form on one of the units.


Unit 2: Manipulating Spreadsheets and Graphs


Unit 3: Creating and using a Database


Unit 4: e-Publication Design


Unit 5: Design an e-Presentation


Qualifications at the end of the course: Level 2 ITQ Certificate in IT User Skills (CLAIT Plus)


Where does the ITQ Certificate in IT User Skills (CLAIT Plus) take me? CLAIT Plus has been designed to accredit a broad range of IT skills, ensuring that regardless of the optional units chosen, the learner will be prepared for the needs of the IT-based workplace in a comprehensive manner.


What do I need? You will preferably have a Level 1 IT qualification.


PLEASE NOTE: This course should not be combined with any other ICT course.
