ABOUT US
The College Governors Under the formal title of ‘Members of the Corporation of Palmer’s College’, College Governors, chaired by Mr Clive Attwood, carry out their legal duties to determine the educational character of the College and to ensure its financial well-being.
Governors have recently approved the revised College Mission Statement which encapsulates the College’s overall aims.
The William Palmer College Educational Trust An important partnership at Palmer’s College is the one which exists between the College and the William Palmer College Educational Trust, a charity established to benefit the education of young people in the ancient Parish of Grays, which gives substantial financial support to Palmer’s College and its students every year and which owns the majority of the buildings on the site.
ABOUT US
Palmer’s College was founded by a merchant, William Palmer, in 1706. For 300 years we have served the community of Thurrock and for over thirty years we have been the Sixth Form College of choice for 16-19 year olds in Thurrock.
We are an open access College and welcome students of all abilities from Thurrock schools. In addition we have many students from Basildon, Brentwood, Billericay, Hornchurch, Rainham and Wickford taking advanced courses.
We provide an extensive College bus service from all these areas. See back page for pick up points across Essex.

Some of the Trust’s gifts to the College have been the provision of major capital projects such as the well-equipped sports hall, the health and fitness centre, the lecture theatre, the extensive addition to the student dining area and a dance studio with adjoining classrooms.
The Chairman of the Trust is Mr Bryan Coker who is himself a former pupil of the Palmer’s School. He said “I am very conscious of the support received from and work undertaken by my fellow trustees in carrying out the charitable intentions of William Palmer. Our reward is being involved closely with such a successful and happy College.”
Rewarding Success A special Prize Giving Ceremony is held annually to reward returning students for their achievement and attendance. The ceremony celebrates the success of our students with the William Palmer College Educational Trust donating generous prizes up to the value of £300. In addition, the Trust gives out bursaries and prizes to students who excel in their leaving exams and go on to university.
Sports Awards Evening 2010 In May 2010, the second Sports Awards Evening took place at the Orsett Hall. The annual awards evening celebrates the achievements of our sporting students.
