HELPING YOU SUCCEED
CAREERS AND HIGHER EDUCATION
Some students have already decided on their future plans, but many others have not. The College’s award-winning Careers Department is an essential service for all students. It provides those who have specific ambitions with the guidance necessary to achieve their aims.
Students who have not yet decided on a future career will receive the advice and information needed to make an appropriate choice. The Careers Department has an input to the tutorial programme and also arranges for visiting speakers from Higher Education and the world of work to come into the College.
Comprehensive advice is provided on university applications. University prospectuses, reference books, information on student finance and access to the internet are all available in the Careers Library. A visit to a Higher Education Convention is organised annually.
Specialist support is given for university tests in Medicine, Veterinary Science and Law and also for students applying to Oxford and Cambridge.
Our job search programme encourages students to apply for appropriate employment. Help is given with the writing of CVs and preparation for interviews. Job vacancies and training places are advertised in the weekly Careers Bulletin.
Students are welcome in the Careers Centre at any time to carry out research into careers or Higher Education. They may also make an appointment at a convenient time to see our qualified Careers Adviser or a Connexions Personal Adviser.
The Careers Centre is located next to the Lower Student Centre and is open from 9.00am to 4.30pm each day.
Students and their parents can be confident that the information, advice and guidance delivered by the Careers Department meets national standards as laid down by Ofsted and Connexions. The Careers Department had to undergo a rigorous assessment to prove that it was worthy of this prestigious award and that Palmer’s College as a whole is committed to the delivery of high quality careers education and guidance.
