Understanding your customer’s infrastructure is key to discovering how you can help them improve it. Here is a list of questions to consider the next time you pick up the phone:


• What are the most critical demands on IT from the business? • What are your current IT initiatives? • Are they intended to address a specific business requirement? • What is the time frame to implementation? • What are your future IT initiatives? • Are they intended to address a specific business requirement? • What is the time frame to implementation?


• Rate your current IT server environment: • Needs Improvement • Meets Requirements • Exceeds Requirements


• Rate your current IT server environment relative to forecasted


needs over the next 12–24 months: • Needs Improvement • Meets Requirements • Exceeds Requirements


• What are your current problem areas? • Can you list them in order of priority?


• Are any of these issue time bound? (e.g. Do they require resolution in next 3 months?)


• Do you have an inventory of your data center? If yes: Can you estimate the level of accuracy?


• Are you currently using server virtualization? If yes: VMware, Microsoft, OpenStack, other?


• Does it meet your current / forecasted requirements? If no: Do you have interest in server virtualization and its benefits? If no: Do you have interest in desktop virtualization and its benefits?


• Are you currently using desktop virtualization (VDI)? If yes: Are you currently using server virtualization? If yes: VMware, Microsoft, OpenStack, or other?


• Do you have a current Disaster Recovery plan? If yes: Do you test it on a regular basis?
