Whitewater West

WhiteWater West began making waves in 1980 when Geoff Chutter, a young entrepreneurial chartered accountant, saw an opportunity to enter into the newly developing waterpark industry. The company made its initial break into the industry with the WhiteWater Waterslide & Recreation Complex in Penticton, Canada.

Having started out with less than a handful of employees, today WhiteWater West has grown exponentially and has moved on to supply the global market with its products and services. It has over 500 employees,18 offices and six manufacturing facilities around the world, with one of its most recent additions taking up residence in Shanghai, China, in 2011, to better serve its Asian clients. Asia is considered one of the company’s key markets and it has experienced considerable growth in the region over recent years, with further expansion expected.

More recently, WhiteWater West opened an office in Barcelona, Spain, in order to better serve its numerous key clients across continental Europe, headed up by Sean Hinton, vice-president of business development in Europe, Russia, Middle East and Africa.

As well as expansion, the past year has seen the organisation focus on redeveloping its parks and recreation division. WhiteWater West has a dedicated team of sales, engineering, project management and installation professionals devoted to bringing the highest quality products to this market.

WhiteWater West may have started out all those years ago with the waterslide, but today it’s not just about the waterslide complex for the manufacturer, but also the extreme waterslide experience, the wave pools, lazy rivers, interactive play structures and spray elements. There is a strong focus on the integrated experience for all ages, skills and thrill levels.

Having been around for over 30 years, WhiteWater West’s strong focus on customer-service and constant improvement, innovation, integrity, accountability and safety has seen it achieve great stature within the industry while also being recognised as one of the ’50 Best Managed Canadian Companies.’

For WhiteWater, there have always been four cornerstones to a successful waterpark - water slides, wave pools, rivers and multi-level interactive play structures. At IAAPA 2011 WhiteWater launched the fifth element, AquaCourse, inciting excitement by traversing guests through an exhilarating course of ropes, towers, bridges and zip lines, while safely harnessed in, active or passive, as they wish. Under the leadership of Rick Briggs, who developed and added the fourth cornerstone through his company SCS, WhiteWater has pioneered what it believes is the next ‘must have’ in the waterpark industry.
