Maurer Rides

Over recent years, German roller coaster manufacturer Maurer Rides has been expanding its presence in both mature and high-growth markets through the signing of numerous high-profile design and build contracts.

With proprietarily developed and manufactured products, parent company Maurer Söhne holds a leading position worldwide when it comes to ensuring a smooth interaction of forces and movements occurring in different steel structures.

Maurer has developed strong relationships with its customers and business partners over the years, which have lead to some important new projects around the world. In 2012, the company has notably booked projects in the US and Asia and some new developing markets.

The company operates in three major fields of activity: Structural Protection Systems, Constructional Steelworks and Transportation and Rides

Maurer Söhne consistently develops, produces and installs innovative, custom-made solutions along its entire product line. Decades of experience, scope of competences and the close interrelation between development and production provide an excellent basis for realising these solutions.

The establishment of Maurer Söhne in Munich dates back to 1876 and continuous growth has enabled the group to secure and enlarge their market position. In 2011, around 900 employees worldwide created a turnover of €150m. Maurer’s headquarters and main production site are based in Munich, while Lünen near Dortmund is home to the company’s branch office. Another branch factory is located in Bernsdorf near Dresden and the company also operates its own production plants in China, India and Turkey. Besides these, there are subsidiary companies and representatives in more than 60 other countries.

Maurer has been an innovative company ever since its beginning, with developments such as the Spinning Coaster, the highly awarded X-Seat for the X-Car coasters and the Skyloop and LSM-launch coasters. Over the years, the company has generated a product portfolio which suits the demand of family and thrill oriented parks extremely well. With the development of the Flying Launch Concept coming with an innovative Energy Recovery System, Maurer has also developed a true Green Coaster.

According to the company, the US and Europe have been the markets which have enabled Maurer to develop to its current dimension. As already mentioned, looking ahead, Asia is the region with the biggest growth potential and Maurer is well represented in this market and is working with new clients with challenging new projects.

“For the rest of the year, we are working on the finalisation of our new products and projects,” the company said. “We have some very interesting but from an engineering standpoint also very challenging new projects coming up. Regarding new demands from the customer side, we have already started to talk about schedules for 2014 and beyond, so the overall outlook for Maurer is really promising.”
