Polin Waterparks & Pool Systems

Polin, based in Istanbul, Turkey, has over 35 years experience in the attractions industry and has become one of the world’s leading companies in the design, manufacture and installation of water parks, waterslides and water-play attractions.

A pioneer in the advancement and application of closed-moulded manufacturing technology, Polin uses Resin Transfer Moulding (RTM) techniques on more than 95 per cent of its annual fibreglass production, while also offering its unique and patented Natural Light Effect technology and Special Pattern Effects technology in RTM and translucent RTM waterslides.

Polin’s product portfolio features a wide range of waterslides that includes signature rides such as King Cobra, Magic Spheres, Spheres, Magi Cone and Space Shuttle. To date, it has designed and installed more than 2,000 waterpark projects in 82 countries around the world, some featuring as many as 50 slides.

Having started out with just 10 employees, Polin now has a team of over 350 working across three production facilities in Turkey, taking on business at an international level, from Europe to the Middle East and North Africa. More recently Polin has seen business growth in Australia, the US and Asia where it is currently working on four key waterpark projects.

The waterpark sector is continuing to grow, and with new attractions, and so has the demand for more interactive play features in the parks. With this in mind, Polin works hard to try and find new ways of offering high quality, unique products to the industry, with technology playing an extremely important role in the process. So much so that, moving forward, over the next few years Polin has set itself three technology ‘targets’ as primary objectives.

The first is to be the leader in technology among waterslide suppliers. In order to achieve this, it has increased its investment in technology, specifically in composites manufacturing technologies, simulation and CAD.

Secondly, as a pioneer in RTM composites manufacturing technology it plans to increase its focus in this area. Polin is currently the only waterslide supplier in the world to offer its complete product line as RTM, including its bowl and family rafting rides. Because these types of attraction require large-scale waterslide components, applying RTM technology to their production requires a very high level of expertise and knowledge.

Finally, the third area Polin will focus on is in its unique and patented Natural Light Effect technology and Special Pattern Effects in RTM and translucent waterslides. These special enhancements require no special equipment for the clients and are based entirely on the materials from which Polin’s tunnels are created, which allow sunlight to penetrate the composite and create dynamic, ever-changing light designs inside the tunnels as guests slide through them.
