Zamperla
Following the overwhelming success of the Air Race 6, Zamperla’s technical department is hard at work on several new versions of this successful ride.
Having made its debut at Coney Island, New York, during the summer of 2010, the Air Race ride proved to be an instant hit with visitors to the Luna Park, being ranked as the venue’s number one attraction.
Air Race is as spectacular to watch as it is to ride and park owners soon began to show a lot of interest in the attraction, having heard the great reviews it was receiving in the US. The second version of the ride opened at Aquashow in Portugal in the summer of 2011, with the initial plaudits being reconfirmed by park operations manager Juri Tietzen, who told Zamperla: “Feel free to send your clients to us because the Air Race is a really fabulous ride. Speaking well of this ride is very easy.”
Word of the popularity and success of the first two Air Race installations has now clearly spread and 2012 is set to be the ‘year of the Air Race’ for Zamperla, with no less than seven more examples of the ride due to open during the year. These will be in countries throughout the world, including North Korea, China, Ukraine, Indonesia, Australia, the USA and Chile – a highly impressive list of openings in one year for a major ride!
The last one mentioned here will be added to Fantasilandia in Chile and will be the first of the eight arm model of the attraction, which has been developed to accommodate the needs of larger parks which require a bigger capacity. This model will provide a total of 32 seats, giving a theoretical hourly capacity of 600 pph.
But this is only the first ‘evolution’ of the Air Race. As development of the ride continues Zamperla reports that it has many other surprises in store for customers over the coming months and in the lead up to the IAAPA Expo in Orlando in November.
