Record turnout for AAE 2012
As amusement markets across Asia continue to grow, the IAAPA-led Asian Attractions Expo is becoming an increasingly important fixture on the world trade show calendar. THIS year’s Asian Attractions Expo (AAE) sold out, according to fresh data released by event organiser the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA). The Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition centre played

host to the four day event from June 5 to 8, and saw over 5,000 attendees from 65 countries arrive to view or display the attractions industry’s latest products and services, with over 270 companies from 32 countries exhibiting. Visitors also took part in educational programmes and
networking events, with some top attraction-expert speakers also in attendance to complete the most expansive trade
show to date. Owners,
managers and leaders, as well as many others, were included in the buyers, the total of which exceeded 3,000. Chip Cleary, IAAPA president
and CEO, spoke of the impact IAAPA had made at
the trade
show, stating: “IAAPA’s presence in Asia is expanding along with the attractions industry and that is evidenced by the record
UK company Severn-Lamb’s Patrick Lamb
turnout for the 2012 expo. “The conference and trade show has grown tremendously
since opening the IAAPA Asia-Pacific office less than two years ago and going forward we expect the show will continue to reflect industry growth within the region.” Positive response from exhibitors
The Asian Attraction Expo is now firmly established as the key trade show for manufacturers and suppliers who are looking to grow their presence in the east. Vortex Aquatic Structures International, an industry
leader in aquatic playground and urban landscape solutions, attended the event, reporting that it has been enjoying success in China, introducing the concept of its Splashpads in Dongying and Jinan. As a measure of the Canada-based company’s
Zamperla was one of many European based company’s to take part in this year’s AAE
commitment to this exciting market, Vortex recently opened a sales and support office in China and launched a website in Mandarin to coincide with the opening of Vortex China. At AAE 2012, Mack Rides of Germany was awarded a
contract to install one of its launch coasters at a new theme park set to be developed in Dubai, UAE. Brothers Ilyas Galadari and Mustafa Galadari of the IMG Group signed the contract for the ride. “We’re proud of the licensing arrangements we have
been able to sign for our park,” Ilyas Galadari stated. “The theme park will be built to the highest standards with the best vendors being selected to build the rides.”
