Dotto Trains
Specialising in road trains for tourist destinations and visitor attractions, Dotto’s first train was produced in 1962 by company founder Ivo Dotto and today his work and the running of the company continues under the ownership and guidance of later generations of his family.
As the company celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2012 it
continues to design and produce an ever evolving range of trains which are to be found in operation around the world in a variety of venues, including historic towns, tourist venues, seaside resorts, cities and towns and amusement and theme parks. Dotto’s strongest market area is Europe, with Italy itself providing an important customer base.
The company’s latest products are the P90.2011 and the LITIO electric train, while it is currently planning other developments and projects, including a new electric shuttle. Its product range offers customers a wide choice of trains,
among them those in the Classic line, which is the core business of the company. All the models in this line are designed to run on the road and to adhere to the strictest of laws of the specific countries in which they are operated. The different Classic models include the aforementioned P90.2011, Sirius, Zeus, Muson River Iveco 2x4, Muson River Iveco 4x4, Muson River with LITIO battery and Muson River with lead acid battery.
The Modern range features the TM970, which is promoted as being an ideal replacement for buses in modern cities, while the Funny line, aimed at amusement parks, villages, malls and private areas, is designed in a ‘cartoon’ style. Finally the Rail Trains range harks back to Dotto’s original products and features the Mississippi, 507 and 60 models.
The locomotives use petrol, diesel, eco diesel, gas and electric power units, depending on the model, while a selection of coaches designed to operate with each of the different tractor units is also available.
