aterpillar was faced with a critical decision regarding its metalcasting facilities during 2005. “The economics of recapitalizing [an] existing facility were analyzed versus enter-
ing [a] joint venture in Mexico,” said the technical man- ager of Caterpillar’s Cast Metals Organization during a 2007 interview.
