manufacturing industry increased by 1 trillion yuan, and the average annual investment was 100 billion yuan. Specifically, the fixed assets of the automotive manufacturing industry rose from 500 billion yuan in 2000 to 1.5 trillion yuan in 2009. Te 1 trillion yuan fixed assets exclude liquid capital and other properties. Seventy percent of the fixed assets were used to buy equipment, of which 70% is imported. number reached 217 million. Te national private car total exceeded 70 million and showed a tendency for rapid growth. Te 2015 total sales target of the six state-owned automo- bile groups, including FAW, SAIC, DongFeng, Chang’an, GAC and BAIC, is more than 28 million. Te 2015 total sales target of international automobile companies, including GM, Toyota, Volkswagen, PSA Group, Hyundai Group, Ford Motor and Honda Motor, is more than 15 million. According to the development plan of the new energy


vehicle industry, the production and sales target for new energy vehicles in the Chinese market would reach 5 million in 2020, which ranks first in the world. Te fully electric drive technique would be the primary operating platform for new energy vehicles. In the next 10 years, the Chinese govern- ment is expected to invest 100 billion yuan to build a new energy vehicle industrial chain. In order to achieve this target, the government would also provide support in research, production, logistics and taxation. According to information already published by the government, that development plan combines diverse measures, and its target is clear. According to the Blue Path Strategy of the state-owned


automotive group FAW, the electric vehicle research cen- ter, which belongs to the FAW technology center, plans to introduce 13 different passenger cars and 16 new energy vehicles. SAIC plans to invest 12 billion yuan to produce key components, including integrated starter, generator, motor and other equipment. DongFeng plans to spend 3 billion yuan to improve the local production of components and building new factories to produce engine, gearbox and other powertrain parts. Tese factories include new engine plants in Zhengzhou and Huadu, a new gearbox plant in Huadu, and a new commercial vehicle engine plant in Liuzhou. DongFeng published its third medium-term development plan (2011- 2015) in Beijing on July 26. DongFeng and Nissan plan to invest 50 billion yuan in expanding production capacity, research and development and network construction. Tey will import 30 new kinds of vehicles and promote sales by another 1 million to reach 2.3 million. At the same time, the amount of dealers will increase from 1,400 to 2,400, and their market share could reach 10%. Chang’an plans to invest 10 billion yuan. With this measure, the sales of energy-saving vehicles and new energy vehicles will exceed 1 million units, and the vehicles will have 30% market share by 2020.
