Grede Adds to Casting Holdings, Starts Partnership With Georg Fischer Grede加入了Casting公司，开始和Georg Fischer的合作


Grede Holdings LLC, Southfield, Mich., U.S.A., has


completed the acquisition of the metalcasting and machining assets of Paxton-Mitchell Corp., Omaha, Neb., U.S.A., and announced a material licensing and mutual manufacturing agreement with Georg Fischer, Schaffhausen, Switzerland. Grede will change the name of industrial caster and


machinist Paxton-Mitchell to Grede Omaha LLC. Grede officials indicated the acquisition will strengthen the com- pany’s position in the heavy truck and industrial markets but did not disclose the financial terms of the transaction. Te newly acquired facility currently employs 75 people, and Grede expects to expand employment in 2012 as business is transferred into Omaha from its other metalcasting assets. According to a joint statement by Grede and Georg


Fischer, the companies have agreed to manufacture compo- nents to serve one another’s customers in their main areas of operation. Grede will manufacture components on behalf of Georg Fischer in the U.S., and Georg Fischer will do the same on behalf of Grede in Europe and Asia. Te companies also have signed a license and partnership


agreement by which Georg Fischer will grant Grede the right to use its SiboDur iron alloy in the U.S. According to the statement, SiboDur allows for lighter chassis parts that can compete with aluminum in terms of weight and performance. “Whilst fostering the penetration of our SiboDur alloy in


the U.S., this agreement enables both our companies to bet- ter serve the global platform needs of our respective custom- ers,” said Josef Edbauer, head of Georg Fischer Automotive. Georg Fischer operates three businesses: GF Piping Sys-


tems, GF Automotive and GF AgieCharmilles. Te com- pany has 130 operations, 50 of them production facilities, in 30 countries. Its approximately 13,000 employees generated sales of $3.8 billion in 2010. Grede has annual revenues approaching $1 billion, generated by 5,000 employees in 16 ferrous casting facilities and four machining operations. ■
