Sumter, SC, Lodge members honored the memory of US Air Force SrA Andrew S. Bubacz and presented the Elks Medal of Valor to his parents in a ceremony at the lodge. Senior Airman Bubacz was assigned to the 97th Communications Squadron when he died in

Chisholm Trail, TX, Lodge members, accompanied by Santa and Elroy the Elk, visited two nursing homes, including Bertram Nursing Home and the Wesleyan at Scenic, and treated about 140 residents to a Christmas carol sing-along. Borger, TX, Lodge members attended a Court of Honor Ceremony for new Eagle Scout Matt Chambers, of Boy Scout Troop No. 1989, and presented him with a certificate and a US flag. For his Eagle Scout Project, Chambers supervised a group that cleared debris, weeds, and brush from a section of bicycle trail and built the trail up with rock and dirt. New Bern, NC, Lodge members treated 85 police officers, firefighters, and guests to a Barbecue Dinner.
Raleigh, NC, Lodge donated $275 to the Boys and Girls Club of Raleigh, $200 to the Juvenile Diabetes Re- search Foundation, and $200 to the Helping Hands Mission, which helps families secure basic necessities.
Southern Pines, NC, Lodge donated more than $9,100 to 24 local charities. Lodge members also presented a $2,500 ENF Impact Grant to Southern Pines Primary School to create a
Swanton, OH, Lodge donated a $750 Ohio Elks Association Community Service Grant to the Swanton Police Department to purchase a new bulletproof vest.
Van Wert, OH, Lodge donated $150 to the Van Wert Police Department’s Officer Phil Safety Program, which helps police officers offer safety and problem-solving instruction to elemen- tary school students.
Durant, OK, Lodge members treated 65 foster children and their foster parents to a Christmas Dinner at the lodge. Each child was also treated to a stocking full of fruits and candy and a visit with Santa.
Coquille Valley, OR, and Grants Pass, OR, Lodges donated $1,000 each to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Oregon, which fulfills the wishes of seriously ill children. The Coquille Valley Lodge raised the money for its donation by collecting more than 2,000 pounds of aluminum pull tabs.
