Sturgis, MI, Lodge held a Super Bowl Party fund-raiser and raised nearly $1,800 for the family of Quinn Good- man, a four-year-old who is undergo- ing treatment for cancer.


Minneapolis, MN, Lodge members volunteered to keep 100 fire hydrants in the local area clear of snow.


Red Wing, MN, Lodge held a Christ- mas Party and Silent Auction fund- raiser, which more than 140 people attended, and raised $5,800 for the state major project, the Minnesota Elks Youth Camp.


Cedar Grove, NJ, Lodge members honored the winners of their Americanism Essay Contest in a ceremony at the lodge and gave each of the winners a certificate and a check worth $75, $50, and $25 for first, second, and third place, respectively. More than 50 children in the fifth through eighth grades submitted essays for the contest. In other news, the lodge held a Coffee House fund-raiser, which featured food and live musical entertainment, and raised more than $2,500 for the Mount St. Joseph Children’s Center in Totowa, which is a home for troubled boys. The lodge also held a Super Bowl Pancake Breakfast at


the Verona Community Center and raised more than $2,100 for the Verona Rescue Squad, a volunteer emergency rescue organization.


Franklin, MA, Lodge held a Dinner fund-raiser, which featured a perfor- mance by a hypnotist and live musical entertainment, and raised $600 for the Elks National Foundation. In other news, the lodge paid to ship 50 packages of supplies donated by the Franklin High School Commu- nity Service Club to US troops serving in Afghanistan. The lodge also donated supplies to help the Benjamin Franklin Classical Charter Public School eighth grade class hold a Pancake Breakfast fund-raiser.


Greenfield, MA, Lodge members delivered Christmas food baskets, each of which contained enough food for a full Christmas dinner, to 50 needy families.

Blue Springs, MO, Lodge members delivered Christmas food baskets, each of which contained a full Christ- mas dinner and five additional meals, to more than 150 needy families. Lodge members also gave a toy and some clothing to each of the 380 children of the families.
