Tucson, Arizona, Lodge Presents Earl L. Wilford for Grand Esteemed Leading Knight Whereas, The officers and members of Tucson, Arizona, Lodge No. 385 do recognize and appreciate the leader- ship, accomplishments, and dedicated service rendered by Earl L. Wilford to the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks of the United States of America,
the Arizona Elks Association, the Tucson Lodge, and other lodges in the South District of Arizona; and Whereas, He has been a member of the Tucson Lodge
since joining in the centennial class, February 16, 1968, served as Candidate on the 1969 national Ritual champion- ship team, served on and chaired many committees in the lodge, served as an officer of the lodge, performing Ritual at district, state, and national competitions every year, was undefeated at the district and state level, winning the Western Division All American award as Esteemed Leading Knight at the Grand Lodge Convention in 1973, has com- peted in nine national Ritual contests either as an officer or as a substitute, was elected to and served as exalted ruler of the Tucson Lodge in 1973–1974, was elected to honorary life membership in 1982 after having served as cochairman of the Site Selection Committee and the Building Committee during the move from our former facility to our present facility, where he is presently serving as chairman of the House Committee; and Whereas, He was recognized for his abilities and dedica- tion to the Arizona Elks Association, serving on numerous committees and serving as first vice president in 1979–1980 before being elected to and serving as state president in 1980–1981, and after serving as president, served on the board of trustees for five years, the last year as chairman, served on the board of directors and as president of the Arizona Elks Association’s state major project during the transition of the major project from an assisted living facil- ity to the present Steele Children’s Research Center and the Arizona Elks Youth Camp, served as state chairman of the Golf Committee from 1997 through 2008, is presently serv- ing as treasurer and liaison to five of the subcommittees of the Local Support Committee for the 2011 Grand Lodge Convention to be held in Phoenix, Arizona; and Whereas, He has served the Grand Lodge as district
deputy of the South District in 1977–1978, served as advi- sor to Green Valley Lodge No. 2592 for six years, advisor to Casas Adobes Lodge No. 2663 for three years, served on the Grand Lodge State Associations Committee from 1982 to 1986, and has attended twenty-six Grand Lodge Conven- tions; and

Whereas, He is a journeyman bricklayer and stonemason, running his family business since 1961, a real estate broker since 1980, a member of the National Association of Real- tors and the Tucson Association of Realtors and is currently a member, having served six years on the board of directors, of the Better Business Bureau of Southern Arizona, and is currently a member of the local and national chambers of commerce; and Whereas, His record of dedicated service to his commu- nity, profession, and fraternity is matched only by his dedication and devotion to his lovely wife, Lois, three daugh- ters, Becky, Cindy, Lori, and their families; and Whereas, His record of leadership, dedication, and devo- tion to our Order has earned him the respect, admiration, and gratitude of all Elks, especially the officers and mem- bers of the Tucson Lodge and the Arizona Elks Association; now therefore Be it resolved, That the officers and members of Tucson, Arizona, Lodge No. 385 are honored and privileged to present to the 2011 Grand Lodge Convention in Phoenix, Arizona, the name of a fellow member, Earl L. Wilford, as a candi- date for the office of Grand Esteemed Leading Knight of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks of the United States of America.

Huetson has been a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks for forty-seven years, being initiated into Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Lodge No. 262 on Sep- tember 24, 1964, served as exalted ruler, lodge secretary, lodge trustee, assistant
Ritual coach, and lodge esquire twice after becoming ex- alted ruler, was All-State Inner Guard in 1975, All-Ameri- can Inner Guard in 1976, and All-State Leading Knight in 1981, and served on various committees and was chairman of the Old Timer’s Program for sixteen years, was Elk of the Year in 1990, received the Grand Exalted Ruler’s Special Citation in 2004, was awarded honorary life membership in 2002 and life membership in 2004; and Whereas, He has served the South Dakota Elks Associa- tion as president in 1985–1986, as chairman of the Protocol Committee for nineteen years, as chairman of the Elks National Foundation Committee for sixteen years and is a
