Newport Harbor, CA, Lodge held Family Christmas Luncheons for two US Army Reserve units. The party for the 3/363rd Training Support Battal- ion and their families was attended by nearly 140 people, while the party for the 419th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion was attended by nearly 240 people.

California-Hawaii Elks Association members belonging to the California Elks Luncheon Club honored state major project Regional Manager Charlene Brown for her 41 years of service and treated her to lunch. The state major project provides in-home therapy to children with special needs. Luncheon Club members also donated 100 toys to be distributed to children served by the project.


Canoga Park, CA, Lodge held a Children’s Christmas Party, which 175 children, including children from the community and relatives of lodge members, attended. Partygoers were treated to refreshments and a visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus, who gave each child a gift.


In other news, the lodge held a Wild, Wild West fund-raiser, which featured comic performances and dinner, and raised $220 for the state major project, which provides in-home therapy to children with special needs.


Chula Vista, CA, Lodge members delivered more than 600 dictionaries to third-grade students at local elementary schools.

Oceano/Five Cities, CA, Lodge donated $500 to Judkins Middle School to recognize the school’s students for submitting the most essays to the lodge’s Drug Awareness Essay Contest.


Orange Coast District, CA, lodges announced the names of the six district students who are proceeding to the national scholarship competi- tion and their sponsoring lodges: Larson Ishii, Sarah Maissy, and Holly Nagasugi, from Mission Viejo/Saddle- back Valley Lodge; Joshua Elkington, from La Habra Lodge; Chyi-Dean Shu, from Santa Ana Lodge; and Han John Tse, from Orange Lodge. Lake Havasu City, AZ, Lodge held a Bingo fund-raiser and raised $1,150 for the Hospice of Havasu. The lodge also held a Raffle fund-raiser and raised $250 for the Western Arizona Humane Society.
