Paradise, CA, Lodge members awarded scholarships worth $2,000 each to students Lauryn Gregorio and Christian St. Pierre. Sacramento, CA, Lodge donated six bicycles and 75 toys, games, and toy stuffed animals to the annual Toys for the Troops’ Kids toy drive.
Tempe, AZ, Lodge members recognized Tempe Police Officer Franklyn Razo as their Police Officer of the Year and Tempe Fire Captain Hans Silberschlag as their Firefighter of the Year in a ceremony at the lodge. Lodge members also treated the two honorees and 12 of their guests to dinner and gave each honoree a plaque. Officer Razo was honored for saving a young woman who was attacked in a remote area, while Captain Silberschlag was honored for saving the life of a heart attack victim at a local sporting event while he was not on duty. In other news, lodge members participated in a Unity in the Community Walk, which about 1,000 people from the community took part in.
In more news, lodge veterans visited Ellsworth Elementary School and discussed their experiences with about 150 students and 30 adults there.

Paso Robles, CA, Lodge held a Silent Auction and Raffle fund-raiser and
Salinas, CA, Lodge held a Public Safety Night Dinner, which 150 people attended, honored Salinas Police Chief Louis Fetherolf, and gave him a plaque in honor of his 40 years of outstanding service. The event raised more than $500 for the Elks National Foundation.
San Diego, CA, Lodge held a State Major Project Night fund-raiser, which 55 people attended, and raised about $1,000 for the state major project, which provides in-home therapy to children with special needs.
San Luis Obispo, CA, Lodge members honored the 16 winners of their Americanism Essay Contest in a ceremony at the lodge, gave each of them a certificate and a cash award,
