Auburn, NY, Lodge held a Winter Barbecue fund-raiser, treated 70 national guard members to a barbecue meal, and sold 100 more meals. The food sales raised $500 for the New York National Guard to support national guard troops who are in need.
Watervliet, NY, Lodge members visited Watervliet Elementary School, honored the three winners of the lodge’s Americanism Essay Contest, and gave the children who attended the ceremony a total of 240 cookies. Freedom Ceremony held at the lodge. More than 460 third- through eighth- grade students from Albany City School District schools submitted essays to the competition. The lodge awarded a certificate, a dictionary, and a US flag to each winner, gave savings bonds worth $100 or $50, respectively, to each first- and second- place winner, and gave a gift card to each third-place winner. The lodge recognized a total of six first-place
winners, five second-place winners, and seven third-place winners in the six grades. First-place winners included third grader Mimi Morse of New Scotland Elementary School, fourth grader Caroline Dollar of New Scotland Elementary School, fifth grader Peyton Hunt of Montessori Magnet School, sixth graders Anni- Maxine Quaye of Pine Hills Elemen- tary School and Hameir Wright of Arbor Hill Elementary School, and
Glens Falls, NY, Lodge held a Christ- mas Party for nearly 60 foster children and treated them to food, storytelling, and a visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus, who gave each child a gift. In other news, the lodge held its monthly Buffet Breakfast fund-raiser, which 65 people attended, and raised more than $560 for the lodge Youth Activities Committee.
Herkimer, NY, and Ilion, NY, Lodge members volunteered to ring bells and raised $720 for the Salvation Army.
Massapequa, NY, Lodge members treated 40 participants in a blood drive to dinner at the lodge.
Middletown, NY, Lodge held a Pan- cake Breakfast, Bake Sale, and Raffle fund-raiser, which more than 800 people attended, and raised $5,000 for
Bangor, PA, Lodge members attended a Court of Honor Ceremony for new Eagle Scout Daniel Hilton, of Boy Scout Troop No. 36, and also honored him in a ceremony at the lodge, where they gave him a certificate and a US flag. For his Eagle Scout Project, Hilton refinished copper doors and made other repairs at a local mausoleum.
