RECOMMENDED: U-SING 2 “
KARAOKE was a pillar of partying long before video gaming came along, and combining the two has proven to be just as popular. As Christmas approaches, Mindscape is reaching out to party animals with U-Sing 2, the latest entry in its Wii karaoke franchise. The original U-Singlaunched in November 2009 and sold 150,000 units in its first eight weeks. This was followed up by U-Sing Girls Night, which was released over the summer, so the publisher is confident the brand has got off to a strong start. “Last year, U-Singwas Europe’s most successful karaoke brand on the Wii platform,” says Mindscape UK’s general manager Mark Stanger. “Given the challenges presented by the market and the fierce competition in Q4, this is something that we are very proud of. It was one of a very limited number of new

franchises which were successfully launched last year.” Like its two predecessors, U-
Sing 2challenges players to perform a wide range of classic and contemporary hits from the likes of Lady Gaga, Fall Out Boy, Kylie Minogue, Coldplay and more. There are around 40 songs to choose from and all are
accompanied by the official music videos, courtesy of Mindscape’s partnership with Universal Music. Once these tunes have been mastered, additional ones can be downloaded through U-Store, a digital platform launched in Girls Nightthat allows Wii owners to purchase extra tracks. There is a range of songs already available, and more will be added in the future. All of these can be tackled solo or players can team up to perform duets and battles in multiplayer modes. It’s ideal for families who are coming together during the holidays and is sure to fare well when it hits the High Street.
