Asian Attractions Expo preview
THE 2010 Asian Attractions Expo, organised by IAAPA, takes place in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from July 13 to 16, with the exhibition element operating from July 14 to 16. The venue for this annual gathering is the Kuala Lumpur
Convention Centre (KLCC) and almost 200 exhibitors are set to take part, with the event accommodating over 500 more net square meters of exhibit space than in the previous year. The event begins on July 13 with the IAAPA Safety
Institute, the exhibition commencing the following day at 10am until 5pm (opening times for the subsequent two days are 10am to 5pm and 10am to 3pm respectively). Featured will be the usual comprehensive selection of ride and attraction manufacturers, food and beverage providers, games and merchandise suppliers and numerous companies offering services to the industry from design and consultancy to repairs and spares, all in almost 4,000sq m of exhibit space. Indeed, it will be the largest Asian Attractions Expo to date.
The education programme also commences on July
14 and runs alongside the trade show for the full three days. Topics due to be covered are many and varied and include subjects such as keeping your venue fresh to increase guest satisfaction and retention, marketing a great guest experience, live shows and entertainment, green/ environmental issues and designing for success. Special events at this year’s show will include an opening
reception at Aquaria, located within the lower level of the KLCC and a world-class aquarium, on the evening of the first day of the trade show, while on the same night a young professionals’ reception will also take place. The Thursday evening will see the Sunway Lagoon tour and beach party being held, while on the final day, there is a post-show trip to Resorts World Genting Highlands, either during the day or as an overnight trip. This year’s show is set to be co-hosted by the Malaysian
Association of Amusement, Theme park and Family Attractions (MAATFA) and co-located with the Australian Amusement, Leisure and Recreation Association’s (AALARA’s) annual conference. Supporting trade associations include the China Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (CAAPA), the Indian Association of Amusement Parks and Industries (IAAPI) and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (IAAPA ASEAN).
