SPORTS - YOUTH
YOUTH SPORTS (ages 6-14 years) The East County Family YMCA offers youth clinics which emphasize skill development, sportsmanship, and self-esteem.
Clinics are different than leagues because the players do not split up into teams and compete each week. Depending on size of the class, children may be separated by age during each session. Each participant receives a t-shirt and an award.
Youth Sports Clinics are designed to teach basic skills and further develop these skills through scrimmages. The clinics are made up of 10-week sessions.
YOUTH VOLLEYBALL (ages 6-14) Code: 33YS V
The Volleyball clinic will focus on passing, serving and setting. In addition, participants will learn the rules and basic skills necessary to play volleyball. Clinics are held in our state-of-the-art gymnasium at the new McGrath Family YMCA (in Rancho SD)! SESSION DATES

The Flag Football Clinic focuses on the fundamentals necessary to playing football including passing, catching and running. Instructors will also teach participants how to execute plays and plan strategies. The clinic is recreational and non-competitive, but may include scrimmages. SESSION DATES

Kids will learn the basic skills of soccer and improve on their current skills. The focus is on learning cooperation and having fun, but instructors will adjust to the skill level of the participants if necessary. SESSION DATES

The Basketball Clinic will focus on shooting, dribbling, and passing while also teaching participants the rules of the game. Instructors will focus on having fun while sharpening and teaching fundamental skills in a non- competitive way. YOUTH LEAGUES (ages 5-17) Y Youth Leagues provide semi-competitive games that utilize volunteer coaches, team parents, and officials to teach participants sportsmanship, teamwork, rules and skills, all while having fun! Participants will all be given an equal opportunity for playing time. Leagues are broken down by age and gender.
