EAST COUNTY FAMILY YMCA! LETTER FROM THE CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD Dear friends,
At the Y we exist to strengthen community. The Y isn’t just the name on the building. We’re a spirit, a movement and a cause. Members join us because they believe in us - and the values we stand for. Together with people like you, we nurture the potential of kids, help people understand and improve their health, and provide opportunities to give back and support neighbors. We are excited that you have decided to join our cause!
Since no two communities are exactly alike, no two Y’s are exactly alike. Knowing this, your Y has responded. We bring men, women and children just like you together. Your East County Family YMCA Membership allows you and your family the opportunity to be active at three full-service, state of the art facilities; the John A. Davis YMCA in La Mesa, the Cameron Family YMCA in Santee and the McGrath Family YMCA in Rancho San Diego. As a member we invite you to enjoy each of these Y’s and experience the unique programs offered with full membership privileges.
The East County Family YMCA is busy moving forward, continually adapting and growing to meet the needs of our members and community. You may have noticed that the Y is also changing the way we present ourselves. For the first time in 43 years, we are unveiling a new brand strategy. The new strategy is designed to increase understanding of the impact we are making in our community, so that more people can take advantage of our unique capacity to foster lasting personal and social change.
Our community has needs, and the Y remains a central means to meeting them. We’ve always known that positive change only comes about when we invest in our kids, our health and our neighbors. And that’s why we’re here. We have three areas of focus: • Youth Development, because young people need caring adults to provide support, guidance and encouragement to grow. • •
Healthy Living, because wellness in spirit, mind and body strengthens our very being, and enhances our interactions with others.
Social Responsibility, because we truly are in this together, and together we can harness our individual strengths and bring about positive change around us.
So while we’ve grown to three facilities and have changed our appearance a bit to better reflect the work we do and the positive impact we make, we’re still supporting East County in the same we always have.
Thank you for choosing the Y as your place for strength. We look forward to continuing to meet the needs of people and families in East County and with your support we will work to enrich more lives and more families, and strentgthen the community around us for decades to come.
