Children must be 15 years or older to use the Wellness Center. 12-14 year olds may use the Wellness Center upon completion of Teen Fitness Orientation.


Cell phones must be turned “off” or set to “silent”. All cell phone use must be conducted outside the exercise centers.


For sanitary purposes, please have a personal workout towel with you at all times. Please wipe off machines with provided cleaning products. A 30-minute time limit will be observed on all cardiovascular machines when other members are waiting.


Appropriate exercise attire and footwear are required. Open-toed and/or open heeled shoes are not allowed. Bare midriffs are not allowed.


Beverages must be in plastic, sealed containers.


Allow other members to “take turns” or “work in” with you between sets on strength training equipment.


Inappropriate conduct, the use of profanity, loud noises, and horseplay are not permitted.


Excessive use of cologne, perfume etc. is not permitted. • Re rack all weight plates, bars and dumbbells after use.


• Due to YMCA liability requirements, all personal training must be provided by East County Family YMCA Personal Training staff only.


• Membership card must be visible at all times.


YOUTH FITNESS CENTER (ages 7-11) AT THE SANTEE LOCATION ONLY


This unique program is the first of its kind in San Diego County! Participants use: a supervised fitness area equipped with youth- sized equipment with age-appropriate workout plans, trainer-led fitness classes, monthly nutrition tips, Wii Studio, and character value program.

TEEN ORIENTATION (required for 12-14 years) This orientation teaches basic fitness principles, proper use of the facility and equipment, correct form and technique. Students will learn how to design and maintain a fun and effective exercise program. The Teen Orientation is two parts: (1) equipment orientation and (2) practical and written quiz. Participants must complete both parts.
