and budget. M-SParc offers 2,900 sq.m of lettable space configured as 40 office spaces ranging from 14.5 sq.m–250 sq.m (two person to 30/35 person offices), 17 laboratories for between three and eight researchers and two 140sq.m double- height workshops.

T Ieuan Wyn Jones, Director of M-SParc,

said: “M-SParc’s vision is to drive knowledge- based science linked to research expertise. This will be achieved by stimulating an entrepreneurial culture linking innovation in key sectors such as low carbon energy, the environment and ICT. We hope to develop an area of innovation in North West Wales with the science park being a catalyst for innovative ideas in the region. “M-SParc is directly adjacent to Junction 7 of the A55 so we are especially accessible for companies from across the North Wales and North West regions. Along with a great variety of business accommodation options we will provide tenants and other companies in the region with meeting rooms, a café and what we believe will be the best boardroom in Wales with its panoramic views of Snowdonia. Above all, we will be offering dedicated business support to each of our tenants, and believe this will be a big part of helping them succeed. “We aim to cater for the brightest and the best companies. The most important criterion for us is that companies are innovative and are looking to bring a new product or system to market. In return we offer highly competitive rates, excellent connectivity through two fibre cables and dedicated business support. “We’re in discussions with several

companies from around the globe who are interested in locating on the Science Park. The key drivers for their interest stem from other investments that are planned for Anglesey at the moment but the area, the lifestyle, the food, history, culture and everything else that comes with living and working in this part of the world forms a big part of the draw as well; you can work at M-SParc, leave at 5pm and be at the foot of Snowdon or on any of a number of beaches within 30 minutes.” Neil Rowlands, Chair of Anglesey

Enterprise Zone Advisory Board, said: “It is truly exciting to see M-SParc progressing as it is. The vision for Anglesey Enterprise Zone is to create a world-renowned centre of excellence for the production, demonstration and servicing of low carbon energy. The opening of M-SParc will contribute enormously to this vision. “M-SParc is a fantastic example of government and academia working with the private sector to create a world-class facility. Anglesey offers a great work life balance due to its exceptional natural beauty, a thriving events, attractions and outdoor activity sector, over 200km of spectacular coastline and a healthy environment, all within 90 minutes of the North West. We look forward to attracting forward-thinking, innovative firms and their people to the Island.”

Looking ahead to the final stage of the build, Mr Jones said: “After four years of planning and development it's fantastic to see the building taking shape and we can’t wait to open our doors and welcome the first tenants in 2018.”

Coleg Menai gets £6.75 million Welsh Government boost for state of the art engineering centre The Cabinet Secretary for Education, Kirsty Williams has announced a £6.75 million Welsh Government investment in a state of the art further education engineering centre on Coleg Menai’s Llangefni Campus, as part of the 21st Century Schools and Education Programme. Total investment in the centre is worth £13.5 million.

The centre will enable the college to support a number of additional places for engineering students studying for both vocational and technical qualifications. The new centre will be located on the same campus as the £50m European Nuclear Skills Centre of Excellence set up by Horizon Nuclear Power / Lockheed- Martin. This will help students develop their engineering skills in support of the ‘Wylfa Newydd’ project. Kirsty Williams said, “This project will not only benefit students wishing to strengthen their engineering skills but also the local economy, allowing highly skilled engineers to live and work in an area which will see major investment with the Wylfa Newydd development. “The centre will also enable older students and other learners to enhance their skills, improving wider employment prospects.”
