s one of the few banks primarily focussed on the real estate sector, Hodge Bank’s core value proposition is the provision of bespoke funding packages for property specialists. Lending is within the £1m - £25m range and applicable across a broad range of asset classes including mixed use, residential, hotel, office, student and retail. See page 26 for the full story. For the first time there is an ambitious, single economic growth vision for the North Wales region. This vision paves the way for the Growth Bid referenced in the Chancellor’s 2016 Autumn Statement, which could see substantial investment in major infrastructure developments across the region. It focuses on three main strategic sectors: advanced manufacturing, energy and digital. It specifically aims to deliver 120,000 jobs and grow the regional economy from £12.5billion to £20billion by 2035. More on page34.

A new wave of energy companies are locating in Pembrokeshire to exploit the combination of the County’s natural resources, supply chain companies, skilled labour and access to the National Grid. This builds on the County’s sixty plus years of experience in playing an important role in supplying a significant role in meeting the UK’s energy needs. See page 44. Swansea is about to undergo a digital makeover with plans for two significant digital developments in the City Centre. A mixed-use

development is set for the City Centre’s St David’s and Oystermouth Road area to include a Digital Square and Digital Arena; and a City Digital Village is being created on The Kingsway to help regenerate The Kingsway and Lower Oxford Street areas. Find out more on page46.

It is hard to believe that it is just nine months since the Leaders of the ten local authorities in South-East Wales put pen to paper at Cardiff Airport to formalise the £1.2billion Cardiff Capital Region (CCR) City Deal. See page 54. The Stroud district, with a population of over 116,000, covers an area of approximately 175 square miles in the south of Gloucestershire. Sites and premises range from ultra modern facilities, to restored historic mills and from major industrial sites, covering many hectares, to former agricultural buildings providing space for micro businesses in rural areas. The full story is on page 74.

There is no doubt about the importance of energy to the county that is currently hosting Europe’s largest construction project, Hinkley Point C nuclear power station, and energy is being generated across the whole of Somerset as it opens up new opportunities in a range of sectors. See page 82.
