MAJOR INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENT GRANTED PLANNING APPROVAL
eading Midlands Commercial Developer, Trebor Developments and funding partner, Kay Properties (Midlands) Limited, have been granted detailed planning consent for their 102,000 sq ft “Rapida” industrial development, located at Kingswood Lakeside, Cannock, close to Junction 7 of the M6 Toll and Junctions 11/12 of the M6.
L
The building is being marketed for manufacturing or logistics uses and could be available for occupation in 2018. Bob Tattrie, Managing Partner for Trebor Development, on
behalf of Trebor and Kay Properties commented, “The new development at Cannock will provide quality, industrial, premises in an area with excellent motorway access. Over 700,000 sq ft of larger, industrial, premises are currently being developed in the immediate location. Our building, at 102,000 sq ft, will be the smallest of these, but we believe responds to occupiers needs for accommodation of that size. It can be available for occupation in 2018”.
Staffordshire County Council’s economic growth leader Mark Winnington said: “Kingswood Lakeside is one of our flagship business parks with major companies operating there. There has been a lot of activity and new development on site recently and the Trebor unit will be another welcome addition. We have worked with Trebor at another of our sites at Redhill in Stafford and look forward to seeing this development in Cannock completed and ready for business as soon as possible. This is further demonstration of investor confidence in Staffordshire.” Trebor Developments and Kay Properties are represented by joint agents JLL and Knight Frank, Birmingham offices.

£80M SECURED B
usiness Secretary Greg Clarke made an important announcement in November about the future of battery technology in the UK – revealing that WMG had been successful in its bid with Coventry & Warwickshire LEP and Coventry City Council to secure £80m from the Faraday Challenge to establish a battery prototype manufacturing centre in the Coventry & Warwickshire area.
This is an important milestone for the area as it strengthens its credentials as a major centre of cutting-edge R&D and manufacturing. The Coventry & Warwickshire area is home to Jaguar Land Rover, Aston Martin Lagonda, Geely-owned London Electric Vehicle Company (LEVC, formerly London Taxi Company) and BMW’s Hams Hall engine facility. Aerospace technology company Meggitt chose the same day to announce a major investment at Ansty Technology Park, near Coventry, creating a new £130m 440,000sq.ft hub.
That follows a strong 2017 for the commercial property sector, led by the automotive and advanced manufacturing sectors. LEVC opened its new 85,000sq.m HQ and manufacturing facility, the first purpose built EV factory in the UK.
