A QUARTET FROM THE GREAT BRITISH GRIFFIN: VAUXHALL’S MOKKA, ZAFIRA, INSIGNIA AND VIVARO
Vauxhall Mokka X W
e have the pleasure of reporting on no less than four great cars from our
friends at Vauxhall, all proof that this manufacturer remains at the sharp end of technological innovation, producing cars which are as good as anything in the world. First up. Let’s consider the consider the superb 5-door SUV, the Mokka X. As you climb aboard you quickly realise that the Mokka X’s interior is high quality, it’s a comfortable, light and airy space which houses supportive, high-mounted seats. Ergonomically, there are comfortably placed controls and great trim levels which add to the sense of roominess. We particularly liked the smooth metallic detailing and chrome instrument-rings. On the road the new Mokka X is a genuine Compact Sports Utility vehicle, more than capable of handling tough off-road conditions and bad weather and it has an intelligent four-wheel-drive system which delivers improved stability, traction and handling. With prices starting from £17,900 and CO2 from just 103g/km, combined with the option of an innovative ecoFLEX 1.6CDTi engine with MPG up to 72.4mpg, it’s also a very clean and economical vehicle which we recommend you take a closer look at.
One of the most successful family cars of the modern era, the Zafira Tourer MPV looks better than ever, with an all-new front exterior. We’ve driven the Zafira since its
104
inception in 1999 to the fantastic, state-of- the-art Tourer models which are available today, and always been impressed by the easy handling and versatility of this exemplary MPV. The Zafira Tourer 7-seater continues to provide its celebrated, flexible
rear seats, so the whole family can stay comfortable, and there’s plenty of room in the light interior. The Zafira Tourer is available with both petrol and diesel engines, ranging from 140PS to 170PS, and this includes the 1.6 CDTi 134PS diesel ecoTEC engine, which uses BlueInjection technology to reduce levels of nitric oxide. As well as room and comfort for all the family, always the Zafira’s hallmarks, the clever people at Vauxhall are now incorporating the latest technological and digital innovations to make your drive even more comfortable and safe. For example, there’s a range of driver-assistance and safety features controlled by the Zafira Tourer’s front camera system, including traffic sign recognition, which detects and highlights speed limits, a following-distance indicator, which tells you how many seconds your car is behind the car in front, lane-keep assist, which provides gentle steering-correction to help keep you in lane. There’s also an automatic cruise control feature which automatically decelerates when you’re approaching a slower-moving vehicle. The ultimate family MPV just gets better and better. And now, let’s get down to business, with perhaps the best available executive vehicle – the Vauxhall Insignia. When it first arrived outside our offices we were immediately struck by the Insignia’s looks,
