FRANCHISEFOCUS IN V ESTMENT: £6 9,000 Celebrating a decade of wins

Shweta Jhajharia is inspiring others with her successful ActionCOACH business

S

hweta Jhajharia moved to the UK from India in 2007 for a global marketing position in London.

Despite this new challenge and being kept very busy with her young son, Shweta was keen to start her own business. Who could predict that, a decade later, she’d have built a multi-million-pound coaching firm based on helping other businesses grow? In the winter of 2008, having recently

given up a lucrative fast-track career, Shweta launched her ActionCOACH franchise. She had very little experience of working with SMEs and found herself in the midst of an economy in a tailspin. “Fast forward to 2013 and I opened my

door to receive a large bouquet of flowers. A business owner who I had convinced to become a client back in those first months had doubled his business. However, it was the note accompanying the flowers that really surprised me – not from the business owner but from Lewis, a yardman in his team, thanking me for transforming the business so that his family had a secure future. That is really when the penny dropped for me and I sat down to redefine my business mission – creating better realities through business reeducation. “Our success reflects our client successes. In the past few years, our business has transformed from £536,000 and 26 clients to £1.4million and 54 clients while maintaining a consistent 50 to 55 per cent margin. Our team in the same period has doubled to eight people and now includes two employee coaches. I have been the global top coach position in ActionCOACH consistently for the last 10 quarters – I am the youngest and only female coach to have seen this sustained performance in ActionCOACH's 24-year history.” This was part of the reason why Shweta

was named Woman Franchisee of the Year at the Encouraging Women Into Franchising Awards this year, sponsored by NatWest. Her decade of business growth because of her clients’ success has prompted others to join ActionCOACH and

follow her example. Mitali Chopra is just one of those inspired by Shweta. “In November 2015, I attended Shweta’s seminar on how to build a sales and marketing machine where she also spoke about her journey with ActionCOACH, and I felt a real connection with her story. More than two years on, I have a coaching practice with a team of four and my income eclipses my former corporate salary.” Now Shweta and her clients share their

success wider, doing good for others, too. They have committed to a partnership with the Buy1Give1 (B1G1) project, which identifies charities from across the world that small companies can contribute to as part of their ongoing business. “I love that what I do gives me an opportunity to work with amazing people and make both their business and personal lives happier. My book ‘Sparks: Ideas to ignite your business growth’ came out in May 2017 with the hope it would help a lot more business owners define

their own success and purpose.” Shweta achieved all of this while maintaining a work-life balance to enjoy time with her husband and 11-year-old son. If Shweta’s story has inspired you to think about your future and you’re the kind of person who: A) loves learning and developing yourself B) has enjoyed success in your career or sport; and

C) is willing to invest if they see substantial returns will be made…
