arc Eccles has spent 30 years as a business owner, experiencing all of the ups and downs that

come with it. These days, he enjoys a quiet time down the pub with a book – although not in the way you might imagine (more on that later). It all started when Marc was running his electrical business and he happened to meet an Action Coach. “My electrical business was a bit of a

rollercoaster ride. In 2009, I was invited to a networking meeting and met Action Coach Kent Rhodes. I liked him and the idea of having someone help me work on the business – a sounding board – really appealed to me. “I began to take control of the business with Kent’s help and a couple of years later I saw ActionCOACH founder Brad Sugars speak. He completely inspired me to become a business coach myself! I knew I could use ActionCOACH’s systems and help other business owners to success, like Kent had helped me.” Marc’s Action Coach wanted to ensure his business would truly function without him before he moved on to a new venture. “He insisted I take the business to a

place where I could comfortably step out. I recruited a new operations manager in 2015 and, once they were up to speed, I launched my ActionCOACH business in January 2016. I still own the electrical business today and it runs more profi tably without me thanks to my Action Coach and the amazing business building system he taught me.”

Starting a new chapter “Six years of being coached by one of the most highly respected Action Coaches felt like great training to become a business growth coach myself! Of course, I went through the formal franchise training, too! I decided to put my clients fi rst to help them achieve their goals and change lives, rather than put the growth of my business fi rst – their success would ultimately make my business a success! “Finding your feet during the fi rst 12 months of the business is important. I had aimed to grow to £6,000 a month of

client income as I was still working part time in my electrical business. I got my fi rst clients through networking and using ActionCOACH’s exclusive client generation centre. I hit my goal by month six and kept the coaching going at that level until the end of the year while my other business took time to bed down.” Marc then went on to create a

networking group of his own to attract smaller businesses who would eventually grow into group coaching and one-to-one coaching clients. “I love the idea of a low-investment group

coaching session that combines learning with a fun social environment and a bit of networking, too. My BookCLUB happens once a month in a local pub where we eat, drink and socialise while reviewing the professional development book I chose the month before. We now have 21 people in BookCLUB paying £100 a month, which is also free to attend for my one-to-one clients. We review books like Jim Rohn’s '7 Strategies for Wealth & Happiness’, Brad Sugars’ ‘Buying Customers’, and Robert Kiyosaki’s ‘Rich Dad Poor Dad'. The BookCLUB was an old ActionCOACH
